Census Bureau: 8.5% of people in Grady County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 54,739 citizens living in Grady County in 2021, 91.5% said they were only one race, while 8.5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Grady County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 83.8% or 45,852 individuals. Following them, American Indian or Alaska Native accounted for 4.3% and totaled 2,373 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Grady County is 1.5% lower than the state average, which stands at 10%.
