Collaborative efforts highlight Lakes Appreciation Month

City of Norman staff will team up with the Pioneer Library System, Sierra Club and Oklahoma Conservation Commission to share knowledge and awareness about the vitality of lakes as part of “Libraries Love Lakes” Week – a celebration that is part of Lakes Appreciation Month – in July. Activities will include a workshop, clean-up event, guest speakers, and story time opportunities. See details below.

CENTRAL LIBRARY “STORY TIME” OPPORTUNITIES

Norman Public Library Central, 103 W. Acres Street | Three morning slots, by age | July 24, 28 & 29, 2023

  • Story Time will feature water-themed books and activities.
  • July 24, 10:00-10:30 a.m. (ages 1-3)
  • July 28, 10:00-10:30 a.m. (ages 3-5)
  • July 29, 10:30-11:00 a.m. (all ages)
 

Contact the City of Norman Division of Environmental Resilience & Sustainability to learn more at 405.366.5443. Additionally, the Lake Thunderbird Watershed Alliance will host events on July 1, July 18 and July 30 to celebrate Lakes Appreciation Month.

 

Lakes Appreciation Month was started by the North American Lake Management Society and brings attention to the countless benefits that lakes provide while encouraging communities to protect these precious resources.
