City Administrative Offices to close for 2023 Independence Day

Normal hours of operation will resume 7/5/23

NORMAN – City of Norman Administrative Offices will be closed Tuesday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day Holiday. See details on certain City operations below.

Sanitation Division

Sanitation services, including recycling and commercial pickup, will be on regular schedule on Tuesday, July 4. The Compost Facility and the Transfer Station will be open regular hours on Tuesday, July 4. 

  • The Compost Facility located at 398 Bratcher Miner Road is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
  • The Transfer Station located at 3901 S. Chautauqua, is open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Transit

The City transit service – EMBARK Norman – will not operate on Tuesday, July 4. See more information here.

Parks and Recreation

The Norman Senior Center, Little Axe Community Center, Irving Recreation Center, Whittier Recreation Center and 12th Avenue Recreation will be closed on Tuesday, July 4.  

WESTWOOD PARK AMENITIES: The Westwood Golf Course, located at 2400 Westport Drive, will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Westwood Tennis Center, located at 2420 Westport Drive, will be open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. The Westwood Family Aquatic Center, located at 1017 Fairway Drive, will be open from noon to 6 p.m.

Norman’s Red, White & Blue Swim will take place July 4, as well as the City of Norman’s Fourth Fest. Learn more about both of these events at NormanParks.com or by calling 405.366.5472.

Residents are kindly reminded that personal fireworks are prohibited in the City of Norman and can cause serious injury and property loss. Residents are encouraged to observe professional, permitted displays while celebrating the holiday.
