The City of Norman has partnered with Cleveland County and United Electronic Recycling to host an Electronics Waste (“E-Waste”) Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The event will take place at Reaves Park, 2501 Jenkins Avenue. Those attending should bring proof of residency and enter the drop-off line from the south entrance of the park off of Jenkins and the Reaves Park Access Road; attendees will exit back onto Jenkins from the north side of the park after waste is removed from their vehicles by workers.
“It is important that we responsibly dispose of electronic waste as many devices contain hazardous chemicals or materials that can pose great safety hazards to people, animals and the environment,” said Environmental and Sustainability Manager Michele Loudenback. “The upcoming event will accept a wide variety of items and we encourage all residents to take advantage of this convenient drive-through opportunity.”
Acceptable electronics include: Televisions, printers, fax machines, copiers/scanners, laptops/tablets, iPods, MP3 players, audio and video equipment, PC speakers, keyboards, VCR/DVD/CD players, modems and hard drives, cell phones, telephones and computer monitors, and anything with a cord. Questions about what electronics can be disposed of at the event may be directed to 405.292.9731.
Normanites can dispose of other types of household hazardous waste at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility by appointment at 405.366.5463.
All electronics waste is handled to R2 standards which ensures that all personal data is fully wiped during processing.
