The No. 22 Oklahoma women's tennis team swept the SMU Mustangs 4-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Headington Family Tennis Center.
The Sooners opened the match with a clinched doubles point to gain the 1-0 advantage going into singles. On court two, No. 8 Alexandra Pisareva and Layne Sleeth defeated Jackie Nylander and Maja Makoric 6-2. At the top court, No. 32 Carmen and Ivana Corley secured the opening point 6-2 against Taylor Johnson and Drew Morris.
When play was halted, Julia Garcia Ruiz and Dana Guzman were down 3-5 to Hadley Doyle and Lana Mavor on court three.
Court five was first to finish in singles after Mavor retired while Garcia Ruiz was up 6-2, 3-0. Emma Staker was next to wrap it up at the No. 4 spot, taking down Nylander 7-6 (4), 6-4. To clinch the match, Pisareva grabbed the 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win on court three.
At the top court, Sleeth was down 2-6, 6-4, 1-3 to No. 98 Hadley Doyle. SMU's Johnson was up 1-6, 7-5, 4-3 over No. 97 Carmen Corley on court two and OU's Romana Cisovska was up 6-4, 3-6, 3-2 on six against Makoric.
