The Oklahoma women's tennis enters the 2023 season at No. 4 in the ITA Preseason Rankings, the association announced Wednesday.

After coming off the program's most historic season in 2022, the Sooners will hit the court with their highest ITA preseason ranking.

The 2023 team features six returners from the 2022 season and two newcomers. Some familiar names include: ITA All-American and Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Layne Sleeth, ITA Doubles All-Americans Ivana and Carmen Corley, No. 86-ranked Alexandra Pisareva, Big 12 Fall Invite Champion Dana Guzman and Big 12 No. 6 Position Champion Emma Staker. ITA Regional Finalist and Fall Nationals qualifier Julia Garcia Ruiz and Romana Cisovska, who reached the semifinals in her first fall tournament with OU, will join the team in the spring.

OU also checked in at No. 2 in the preseason Big 12 poll, the conference announced Wednesday. The Sooners earn their placements after a successful 2022 season by coming off a national runner-up finish. The team collected the most wins in program history with 32, eight of them against top-10 teams and 13 over top-25's, reached the ITA National Indoor Championship in the program's first appearance, and claimed OU's first Big 12 Regular Season title.

The squad opens the 2023 season Jan. 14 hosting a doubleheader against Missouri and Tarleton State.
