Oklahoma travels to Lubbock, Texas for the Sooners' first Big 12 road test of the season on Saturday, Jan. 7. Tip is slated for 6 p.m.Saturday's game against the Red Raiders will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Shawn Kenney and Bryndon Manzer on the call. Jalen Hill scored a team-high 16 points and added six rebounds and four steals. Tanner Groves wrangled a team-best eight rebounds and tallied 15 points. Texas Tech enters the Saturday clash 10-4 and 0-2 in the Big 12. TTU is coming off a 75-72 loss to No. 3 Kansas on Tuesday. The Sooners and Red Raiders battled three times last season. Each program won their respective home games and Oklahoma dropped its semifinal matchup with the Red Raiders at the Big 12 Championship 56-55.
SCOUTING THE RED RAIDERS
Mark Adams is in his second year as Texas Tech head coach. Adams led the Red Raiders to a 27-10 mark in his first season and an appearance in the Sweet 16. He was named 2022 Associated Press Big 12 Coach of the Year and the Jim Phelan National Coach of the Year. Adams guided Tech to a 10-4 record in 2022-23.
Texas Tech is ranked in the top 25 in three NCAA DI categories. The Red Raiders are ninth in field goal percentage (50.2%), 10th in effective field goal percentage (57.1%) and 16th in scoring margin (15.9).
LAST MEETING: TEXAS TECH
After upending No. 3 Baylor in the Big 12 Championship quarterfinals, Oklahoma dropped the semifinal matchup to No. 14 Texas Tech 56-55 at T-Mobile Center on Friday, March 11, 2022.
Umoja Gibson finished with a team-high 16 point. Jordan Goldwire added 15 and Jalen Hill pitched in 13, scoring 11 in the first half. OU shot 38.0% (19-50) from the field, 26.3% (5-19) from deep and 66.7% (12-18) from the free throw line.
Despite Texas Tech being up 14 with 17:07 remaining, OU battled back and held the lead 10 minutes later. The Sooners had a chance to go ahead in the final seconds, but a turnover on a driving layup attempt ended the contest.

Sherfield is the only NCAA DI men's basketball player this season to shoot 45% or greater from the field (min. 5 made per game), 50% or greater from three (min. 2.5 made per game) and 85% or greater from the free throw line (min. 2.5 made per game). Sherfield is first in the Big 12 in 3-point percentage (50.0%). He is second in free throw percentage (88.0) and fourth in minutes per game (32:48) and points (242). Tanner Groves ranks third in rebounds (98) and defensive rebounds per game (6.3).
