University of Oklahoma Fatta to Represent Team USA at Swiss Cup

Future Sooner and recent signee, Addison Fatta, has been selected to compete at the 2022 Swiss Cup, held Sunday in Zürich, Switzerland.

She will join OU men's gymnastics alumnus and 2020 Tokyo Olympian, Yul Moldauer, in representing Team USA at the prestigious senior international event.

"I am so excited and honored to represent the United States in the 2022 Swiss Cup and to have the opportunity to compete with former Oklahoma and Olympic gymnast, Yul Moldauer!," Fatta said. "It is a dream come true."

The meet is set up in a unique team format with a bracketed elimination system, featuring mixed pair teams made up of one female gymnast and one male gymnast from the same country. The one-day competition will begin Sunday at 4:25 a.m. CT, 11:25 a.m. local time in Switzerland.

After the first two rotations, the bottom two teams will be eliminated after the first rotation and an additional four teams cut after the second rotation. Scores will reset during the third rotation, which will serve as the semifinals between the four teams, prior to the finale where the winners of the four-team semifinals will compete head-to-head for the title, while the other two teams vie for third place.

Fatta's latest international assignment comes on the heels of her international debut at the Szombathely World Challenge Cup, where she won gold on vault and bronze on bars.

A two-time national team member (2021, '22), she was selected to participate at the U.S. Women's World Team Selection Camp last October and was named to the 2022 Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil last July. Over the summer, she finished 10th in the all-around at the 2022 U.S. Gymnastics Championships and placed fifth on beam and sixth on bars at the 2022 U.S. Classic.

Chosen by her fellow competitors, USA Gymnastics awarded Fatta the 2022 Sportsperson of the Year for her reputation as a hardworking and kind leader who listens to and supports her peers within the sport. In 2021, Fatta was selected as one of only 16 women invited to take part in the U.S. Olympic Trials, where she finished 11th overall.

Fatta officially signed with OU on Nov. 9 and will arrive in Norman for the 2023-24 season.
