Oklahoma soccer freshman Ellie Geoffroy has been named Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the conference announced the weekly honors Tuesday afternoon.
Geoffroy was the star in OU's 2-1 upset win over No. 12 TCU last Thursday, scoring the game-winner in the 82nd minute to hand TCU its first loss in conference play of the season. It marked OU's first top-25 win since 2018 and the first ranked victory under head coach Mark Carr.
The goal was Geoffroy's first collegiate goal on just her fifth shot of her first-year campaign from her defender position.
Geoffroy was assisted by fellow freshman Alexis Washington and sophomore Leonie Weber on the goal, as she played the cross from Weber off her chest and fired a right-footed strike that found the top of the net.
The Sooners return to the pitch Thursday in Austin for the regular season finale vs. No. 23 Texas. The match is set for a 7 p.m. CT start and can be seen on Longhorn Network.
Oklahoma has already clinched a spot in the Big 12 Soccer Championship in Round Rock, Texas, beginning Sunday, Oct. 30. The Sooners will learn their seeding and opponent after the regular season concludes this week. Fans can purchase tickets to the tournament via Big12Sports.com/buytickets.
