University of Oklahoma graduate student Jordyn Kaplan was named the Big 12 Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
The Dallas, Texas, native led her team with a fifth-place finish, clocking a 22:12.80 in the 6k at the Texas Tech Open. Kaplan paced the women to their first team win in five years to grab the win over 18 teams competing in Lubbock. The Sooners finished with 41 points and had five runners place in the top 15.
The accolade is a career first for Kaplan and the first weekly honor for OU since 2017.
The Sooners return to the course Sept. 30 in Fayetteville, Ark., for the Chili Pepper XC Festival.
