University Of Science & Arts Of Oklahoma Hines Selected as SAC Male Student-Athlete of the Year

The SAC recognized the classroom achievements of its student-athletes with academic student-athlete of the year awards by sport. Those award winners became candidates for the overall conference student-athlete of the year.

SAC sports information directors chose the honorees, which were nominated from among those who earned academic all-SAC acclaim taking into account their academic and on-field accomplishments. Hines picked up five No. 1 votes and won the poll 22-18 over Peyton Crispin from Oklahoma City University.

Hines, a senior guard from Fort Cobb, Okla., earned his bachelor's degree in physical education and a minor in history with a 3.69 cumulative grade-point average. Hines took SAC men's basketball student-athlete of the year for the second consecutive year. His other academic honors were two-time SAC scholar-athlete, four-time academic all-conference and three-time SAC commissioner's honor roll.

Hines became a first-team NAIA all-American, conference player of the year and first-team all-SAC while leading the Drovers to the SAC regular-season championship and an appearance in the NAIA Championship Tournament in 2021-22. He posted 18.5 points a game with a 42.7 percent 3-point shooting percentage and 89.6 percent free-throw clip.

In his career, Hines snagged three all-SAC selections, two NAIA all-America selections and 2021 SAC Tournament most valuable player. Hines accumulated 1,793 points, 359 rebounds, 361 assists and 99 steals. He ranks second in program history in points, second in 3-pointers made (294) and third in assists.
