Mid-America Christian University Women’s Soccer Unveils 2022 Fall Schedule

After coming away with the 2021 NCCAA Central Region Championship, the Mid-America Christian women's soccer team will be looking to build upon its championship legacy under second-year head coach Anthony Yousey as the Evangels announced their 2022 fall schedule on Thursday.

"I think we have a very tough schedule against some of the highest-ranked schools in the NAIA as well as two matches against NCAA Division I teams," said Yousey. "Our team has worked hard last spring in preparation for this season and I believe the girls are prepared for the challenge this schedule brings."

MACU will begin the year with exhibition play on Aug. 13 as the Evangels will compete in a 7 p.m. scrimmage at Oklahoma Baptist. The match will be one of three unofficial matches to start the year as MACU will host a 2 p.m. scrimmage against Barton Community College (Kan.) at the Dill Soccer Field on Aug. 15 before heading to NCAA Division I Tulsa (Okla.) on Aug. 18 for a 7 p.m. exhibition match.

Mid-America Christian will officially open the regular season with a non-conference match at Friends (Kan.) at 11 a.m. on Aug. 27. The match is the first of seven non-conference games for the Evangels with three being played at home, three on the road and one at a neutral site.

MACU will play its first official home game at the Dill Soccer Field on Sept. 3 against Baker (Kan.) to open a Labor Day Classic before heading uptown to Oklahoma City University at Brian Harvey Field for a neutral site matchup against University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Sept. 5.

The Evangels will then host back-to-back home matches, the first coming against 2021 Red River Athletic Conference champion Louisiana Christian at 7 p.m. on Sept. 8 before hosting a high-profile matchup against No. 15 Columbia (Mo.) with a 1 p.m. kickoff on Sept. 12.

To wrap-up non-conference play, MACU will play back-to-back road matches at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15 at NCAA Division I Oral Roberts (Okla.) and a 7 p.m. game at Missouri Baptist on Sept. 20.

Mid-America Christian will start Sooner Athletic Conference play with a pair of games at the Dill Soccer Field as the Evangels host Wayland Baptist (Texas) at 5 p.m. on Sept. 27 before taking on Central Christian (Kan.) at 5 p.m. on Oct. 1.

MACU will hit the road for three straight matches starting on Oct. 4 at Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas), at Texas Wesleyan on Oct. 8 and will wrap-up the road-stand at rival Science & Arts (Okla.) on Oct. 15.

The Evangels will open three straight home games with a pivotal matchup at 5 p.m. against No. 11 John Brown (Ark.) on Oct. 18 prior to hosting their Senior Night against Oklahoma City on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 5 p.m.

In its final regular season home match, MACU will challenge crosstown rival Southwestern Christian (Okla.) at 5 p.m. on Oct. 25 before wrapping up the regular season with a noon road match at Oklahoma Panhandle State on Oct. 29.

The Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament will begin on Friday, Nov. 4 with the quarterfinal round being hosted by the top four seeds. The semifinals will take place on Monday, Nov. 7 with the championship game being hosted by the highest remaining seed on Thursday, Nov. 10.
